Sampson sets winning expectations
Head coach Tim Sampson has set the expectations for the upcoming Super Rugby season announcing his plan for a victorious 2021.
With a strong balance of youth and experience within the squad, the Force is primed to take the 2021 season head-on.
“We have to beat everyone and that’s the plan,” Sampson said.
“It will be great for our club to play against the New Zealand teams again, but we’re focusing our immediate attention on Super Rugby AU to get results there.”
The Force take on reigning champions, the ACT Brumbies, at HBF Park on February 19, the first Super Rugby game to be played in Perth since July 2017.
Sampson said there is a real strong level of excitement to play in front of a home crowd and the team are already fighting for selection.
“As soon as the fixtures were released, we spoke about the Sea of Blue and there’s a real buzz for the team to get out there and play in front of our home fans.”
“They have all been working hard, that is what pre-season is all about. We’ve got really great depth and there is a genuine fight for positions, which is what we need to get the best out of people,” Sampson said.
“It has been a bit of a grind and a hard slog, having had an extended pre-season block, but the players are in great shape.
“The back end of last week and this week, the intensity, the players’ focus and mental application has changed a lot knowing that the first game is just around the corner.”
