Force Ready to Defend World Clubs 10s Title

The Road Safety Western Force will defend the Beachcomber World Club Tens title this weekend when the two-day event kicks off on Saturday, 17 June in Mauritius.

Departing for the tournament yesterday, the Force's 16-strong squad boasts 11 Pindan Premier Grade players who have excelled so far this season and have been identified as potential Perth Spirit players.

Road Safety Western Force 10s Head Coach Kevin Foote says he has been extremely impressed with the Premier Grade players and looks forward to defending the title.

“The club players have been fantastic,” he said. “They have shown such great commitment and I am very happy with where the team is at heading into the tournament.

“We’re excited to be coming in as past champions, but we know this is going to be a tough tournament and we’re playing some classy opponents.”

Western Force have been drawn in Pool A, avoiding Super Rugby rivals the Bulls, Cheetahs and the Brumbies in the process.

The Force are grouped in Pool A alongside England’s Harlequins, Japan’s Kubota Spears and a combined Africa Pacific Dragons.

Pool B sees the two South African heavyweights – the Bulls and the Cheetahs – up against current Australian Conference Super Rugby leaders the Brumbies and the combined Tsunami Pyrenees.
