When injuries hit the Road Safety Western Force hooking stocks last season Perth Spirit and Nedlands rake Anaru Rangi was called up and the powerful New Zealander took the opportunity with both hands. The 28-year-old made his debut off the bench against the Bulls at the Force Field in Round 10 before going on to earn another four caps in his maiden season. Nicknamed ‘Bopper’ Rangi has quickly built a reputation for landing massive tackles most notably two massive shots against the Brumbies in the final game of the 2016 season. Rangi was a key contributor in the Perth Spirit’s Buildcorp NRC title winning side and will be pushing hard for more game time in 2017.
