More than pride on the line for Force against Brumbies
A fresh challenge awaits for the Western Force when they travel to Canberra to take on the league-leading ACT Brumbies at GIO Stadium on Friday in the nation’s capital.
The Force go into the clash having endured two of their toughest weeks in the competition, which saw them suffer defeats to the Waratahs and the Reds. They now prepare to face an in-form Brumbies team that will be buoyed but its convincing win against the Waratahs last week.
Rugby games don’t come any tougher than this, but based on the evidence of their attitude and approach since the season commenced in early July, the Force will be ready for the strong test that the Brumbies present.
A first tournament victory is still firmly in sight after some encouraging performances, as the squad certainly isn’t short on motivation.
“There is a lot to play for in terms of pride, what we want to be proud of and the fans back in Perth,” Jack McGregor explained.
“We want to play not only for each other, but the fans back home who have given us so much. We’ve got two more games and we want to put something out they can be proud of,” the fullback added.
In their first meeting in Super Rugby AU a month ago, the Brumbies struck with two early tries and went on to secure a 24-0 victory. The Force will be wary of their attacking prowess and will be looking to start well and work to maintain momentum and pressure throughout.
The Force have much to play for, as they know that the Sea of Blue will be behind them as always when they take the field in Canberra.
Be sure to catch the Force take on the Brumbies LIVE on Friday from 5pm AWST on FOX Sports and Kayo.
