Holmes joins front row
Former Wallaby Greg Holmes has returned to Australia to play for the Western Force after four years with UK based Aviva Premiership side Exeter Chiefs.
With 27 national appearances and 144 Super Rugby games for the Queensland Reds under his belt, Holmes will add substantial experience to the team.
Holmes played with both head coach Tim Sampson and forwards coach Van Humphries previously at Sunnybank and the Reds. Sampson admits it will bring back some fantastic memories. “It’ll be great to catch up with him again. He has had a great career so far, I’m sure we will benefit from his experience,” Sampson said.
“Holmesy is a superb tighthead and has a wealth of knowledge to add to the team.”

Head coach Tim Sampson said the 37-year-old will add depth while allowing the opportunity for Western Australians to develop, learn from him and rise to the challenge of playing against old rivals.
“Greg is a greatly experienced player who will add considerable depth to our front row, but he is also a quality person who will no doubt be a major influence on some of our younger forwards,” Sampson said.
“He has had a great stint in the UK with Exeter and was highly regarded in the UK premiership.”
Having arrived in Perth last night, Holmes is currently in a hotel for two weeks of mandatory quarantine before joining the team on June 25.
