Force to tour Japan
The Western Force are set for a short tour of Japan which will see them play in two matches after their Friday night clash against the Asia Pacific Dragons.
The team will visit Fukuoka and Tokyo to play against a joint Sanix Blue and Coca Cola Red Sparks team and the Japan A “Wolfpack” team before heading to Singapore for their third Global Rapid Rugby Showcase Series fixture.
In a World Cup year, head coach Tim Sampson says the tour is timed well and will be a big learning experience for the team.
“We are very fortunate to be able to travel to a wonderful place like Japan and play against quality opposition,” Sampson said.
“With Japan hosting the World Cup later this year, it will be a great experience to be amongst what seems to be a huge increase in support for Japanese Rugby.”
Sampson is expecting the matches to be highly competitive and believes they will be good preparation for the Force’s next game against the Asia Pacific Dragons.
“The two fixtures will be challenging, playing in Fukuoka against a combination side comprising of players from the Sanix Blues and Coca Cola Red Sparks and then on to Tokyo to play against the Japan A side,” Sampson said.
“It will be an ideal lead into our third Showcase Series fixture against the Asia Pacific Dragons the week after in Singapore”.
