FORCE FIRED UP FOR SEMI FINAL
The Western Force will take on the reigning champions the ACT Brumbies when they make their first Super Rugby finals appearance this Saturday.
With three back-to-back wins, including a three-point-win against a previously undefeated Reds side, former World Cup-winning All Black Richard Kahui is determined to make WA proud again this Saturday.
“We have been playing Grand Finals for the last three weeks, so every game has been a must-win for us and this is another,” Kahui said.
“It is really important to acknowledge that it is a Semi Final. As a team, it is our chance to do something really special for a club that hasn’t been here before.
“We are a team that has grown a lot since we last played the Brumbies. We’re at a point now where we have every chance of beating them. We can win.”
After having a break-out season since his switch to XV’s rugby from Australian Sevens, Tim Anstee believes the team’s confidence in their abilities is a key factor in helping them secure the win.
“The Reds had been the in-form team of the Super Rugby competition and hadn’t lost a game yet, but we went into the game with confidence after winning our last two games. We had faith we could get the job done,” Anstee said.
“We haven’t beaten the Brumbies yet this season but we have a lot of belief in the squad that if we stick to our game plan we can get the win this weekend.
“It’s finals footy and it means a lot to us. We want to do WA proud.”
Having played in high-pressure games throughout his illustrious Super Rugby and Argentinian international career, Tomás Cubelli is looking forward to creating more winning memories at GIO Stadium this Saturday.
“I had the chance to play here with Argentina as well as with the Brumbies, this one will be special as it is a Semi Final,” Cubelli said.
“I have a lot of good memories from Canberra and look forward to making some more.
“Every game gives you the feeling of anxiousness but it is a good feeling, one we chase and why we train hard. It is a privilege to be able to feel that, I am looking forward to feeling that. I look forward to the game and putting on a good performance with the team.”
