What are you looking forward to in 2020?
I am really looking forward to Rapid Rugby getting up and going, it has been a long time coming. Just really excited to find out who our opposition is and get into the tournament!
Earliest rugby memory?
Going to watch the Natal sharks play in South Africa with family.
Who is your inspiration?
On the pitch, I would say George Smith or Phil Waugh. Off the pitch, I am very close to my family, so I’d say my father and brother.
Go-to karaoke song?
I cannot sing to save my life! But if I had to, I saw a clip of someone singing the Tequila song the other day. I’d probably go with that song because it’s just one word!
Which position would you play if not the one you currently play?
I have always dreamed about playing in the outside backs, but I am not sure I am quite quick enough.
What’s something not many people know about you?
I am a Guinness World Record holder! A group of us have the record for smashing a piano in a record amount of time. When I was with the Gordon Highlanders in Sydney the team got approached after someone had beaten the previous piano smashing record held by the club. They asked the players if we wanted to get the record back and we did!
Favourite player to watch growing up?
I’ve already mentioned George Smith, but if I went even younger I’d say probably James Small, the former South African winger.
What do you do when you’re not playing rugby?
I spend a lot of time down at the beach with my wife and dog.
If you weren’t a professional rugby player you would be?
I’d have to have a real job! I think I’d have a nine to five office job.
If you could have a superpower it would be?
To see into the future!
Last book you read?
I just finished the Emperor series by Conn Iggulden, it’s historical fiction about the life of Julius Caesar.
