A pair of cliffhangers highlighted the opening weekend of finals action in the 2008 KWIK Transport & Crane Hire Senior Rugby Competition, setting up some exciting Preliminary Finals this weekend.
Minor Premiers Kalamunda were the first to book their place in the 2008 Premier Grade Grand Final, grafting their way to a tough 13-11 victory over second-placed Nedlands in Saturday’s Major Semi Final at Rugby Park.
On Sunday it was competition giant-killers Wanneroo’s day in the sun, eliminating reigning premier Perth-Bayswater with a thrilling 21-16 Minor Semi Final win in their first ever RugbyWA finals series appearance.
The stage is now set for a huge Preliminary Final clash in the Premier Grade between Nedlands and Wanneroo, scheduled for a 3.30pm kick off this Sunday (August 24) at Rugby Park.
The winner will take on Kalamunda for the 2009 premiership in the last ever Grand Final at Rugby Park on Sunday August 31.
