Matt made his debut for the Emirates Western Force at inside centre against the Highlanders in round one but played most of the season at flyhalf. Three memorable times he split the opposition wide open, against the Waratahs in round five (scoring his first try for his new club), against the Sharks in round nine setting up Cameron Shepherd for the match-winner and a special break from outside the 22 which left the Chiefs grasping at thin air. Matt scored 71 points in his first season in Perth, going onto win the team’s 2007 Player of the Year award. When he’s not playing for the Emirates Western Force or the Wallabies, the world class game-breaker likes to surf (though admits he’s not very good at it), eat mussels and hang out at the beach. He has an interest in two greyhounds, Elite One and Babe’s Elite, and a horse, Carnegie Prince, which all race in Sydney.
