Hooker Heath Tessmann signed a short-term contract with the Emirates Western Force for the start of the 2013 Super Rugby season. Tessmann was a foundation member of the Melbourne Rebels and played 10 Super Rugby matches for the Victorians during 2011 and 2012. The 28-year-old was invited to join the Emirates Western Force’s wider training group during the 2013 pre-season along with locks Ben Matwijow and Adam Coleman, winger Corey Brown and five local players from the RugbyWA Bankwest Academy. The Queensland-born rake was been called into the senior squad as cover for the injured Ben Whittaker (broken foot), who will miss the opening rounds of the 2013 Super Rugby season. His contract will continue until Whittaker is available to resume his place in the squad.
