Profile
Jayden Hayward joins the Emirates Western Force as one of the side’s two foreign developing players for 2013. Hayward crosses ‘the ditch’ from Wellington where he spent two seasons representing the Hurricanes. The 25-year-old’s rise to Super Rugby came about after a breakout 2008 National Provincial Championship season with Taranaki, scoring three tries in eight matches to earn a Super Rugby contract with the Highlanders. After two seasons he headed north to join the Hurricanes, where he made his debut for the Wellington club in place of a suspended Ma’a Nonu before going on to make seven of his 11 appearances in the starting XV. Hayward has been a consistent performer for Taranaki across five seasons of ITM Cup rugby, and broke a New Zealand first-class record – scoring a try in 10 consecutive matches across 2010 and 2011. The run started against Hawke’s Bay in September 2010 and ended when he failed to score against Bay of Plenty in August 2011.
