Flanker Chris Alcock joins the Emirates Western Force as a key signing from the NSW Waratahs. South African-born Alcock, who moved to Australia with his family at the age of 10, is a tough and tenacious flanker who follows his former Waratahs mentor Michael Foley across the Nullarbor for the 2013 Super Rugby season. The gritty openside flanker played 25 matches for the Waratahs since making his provincial debut against the Cheetahs two years ago, after he was plucked from Sydney grade rugby for the beginning of 2010. Alcock, who played 12 matches in 2012, running on in the ‘7’ jersey for the bulk of the season, was a starting member of the 2011 Shute Shield-winning Eastwood side. He previously starred for Gordon during their resurgence in the Sydney premier grade competition in 2009.
