Western Australia has received its second defeat in as many days at the Under 16 National Championships at St Ignatius College, Sydney.
Following on from yesterday’s narrow 13-11 loss to Queensland White, the WA side was comprehensively beaten 48-8 by a strong NSW Schools outfit this afternoon.
NSW Schools, who defeated NSW Country 55-0 yesterday, started strong and maintained possession to put on three early tries before adding another to lead 28-5 at the break.
The lone WA points came through a Josh Billington try.
While the WA side returned for a much improved and spirited second half performance, NSW ran in three late tries to extend their winning margin.
WA now sit in third place in Pool A, ahead of their next opponent NSW Country.
The competition has a rest day tomorrow (Wednesday) before WA takes on NSW Country on Thursday 4 October.
