Force 10’s

Tonight’s curtain raisers will see the grand finals of the Force 10’s tournament with Darling Range Senior High School taking on Aranmore Catholic College in the Year 10 division, and Aranmore Catholic College battling it out with Mandurah Catholic College in the Year 8 division.

Eight schools competed in the annual Force 10’s tournament, held at Britannia Road Reserve on Tuesday, 26 June with 17 teams taking to the field across the two divisions.

It was a fantastic day of rugby with Aranmore Catholic College, Thornlie Senior High School and Darling Range SHS impressing early with wins in their respective matches.  Mandurah Catholic College proved they have been working hard in building their rugby talent after scoring some big wins in their first games.

When the semi-finals rolled around Darling Range SHS, Thornlie SHS, Aranmore Catholic College and Mandurah Catholic College battled it out in the Year 10 division for a place in the decider.  Darling Range SHS were the standout performers of the day, finishing top of the ladder and defeating Thornlie SHS 15-0 to advance to this afternoon’s grand final at nib Stadium.  Aranmore Catholic College cemented their spot in the play-off against Darling Range with a crushing 55-0 defeat of Mandurah Catholic College.

Aranmore Blue will be hard to beat in the Year 8 division tonight after finishing top of the table and winning their way onto the Emirates Western Force’s home pitch with a dominant 55-0 win over Thornlie SHS’s second side.  In the second semi-final it was Mandurah Catholic College causing the upset of the day in scraping past Thornlie SHS’s first side, 19-17.
